Liza Barth was a former journalist and investigative reporter at Consumer Reports and worked in consulting with clients across many industries to develop their digital content strategy. She is currently managing web content and digital publishing at a data and analytics company serving the insurance industry. Liza is the mother of 19-year-old son, who is a college sophomore and 17-year-old daughter, who is a high school senior.
Margie Gelbwasser has tutored numerous students in the college essay and has been an ELA middle school teacher for over 15 years. She is also a published author (under name of Margaret Gurevich) of 16 books for tweens with publishers Capstone and Penguin. Her 18-year-old son is a college freshman.
Caring College Consulting came about when Liza and Margie started preparing for the college process with their children. Liza attended college webinars and joined many college Facebook groups to research all areas of the process. She learned a great deal and started to share her insights with friends who mentioned that she should start a business. Margie was already helping students craft their college essays and found herself delving into other aspects of the application process. Both she and Liza knew working together to share their expertise with others would be the perfect partnership!
